Rebirth is a new, tile-laying game from Reiner Knizia.
The game revitalizes this classic genre by combining Knizia’s elegant mechanics with Mighty Boards’ evocative world-building. The result is a eurogame with smooth gameplay, set in a lush and hopeful future.
Each turn, players draw a tile from their supply and place it strategically on the board. These tiles represent your clan’s contribution to rebuilding the land. Rebirth rewards strategic foresight and clever tactical play, with tougher decisions emerging over the course of the game.
Apart from a reduced price, what has changed in the second edition:
The Castles have been reduced in size by about 20%. The game includes 12 not 14 castles. 14 was a mistake in the original run, you never need 14.
The Cathedral tokens are reduced in size by about 16%.
The box is tweaked in size slightly to fit an existing box tool and to better optimise freight (5mm reduction in depth).
The Game board is 10% smaller. We feel the board was a little too big in the original run. This makes the game fit more tables with no reduction in visibility.
The cardboard will receive an upgrade in its lamination to increase durability.
4 Additional zip-lock bags will be included for easier storage
The castle shaped player punch-outs are removed. These were only added as we had free space on the old punch board. We have made optimisations to the punch board layouts to reduce cost and they are extra and no longer needed.
The above changes were carefully considered to make the game feel almost exactly the same as the current version. The parts still feel substantial and there is no negative effect on visibility.
What does not change:
The Cathedrals and Castles are still made of a wood/resin composite material made from recycled wood.
All cardboard will remain the same in terms of thickness
The gameplay contents of the game are unchanged.
The board is still double sided, both Ireland and Scotland are included.
